Tooling Policy

MPP Tooling & Label Policy

Tooling and labels required for the manufacture of packaging products will either be supplied by the customer or purchased by MPP and billed to the customer, unless otherwise agreed to.

Customer Supplied Materials

MPP reserves the right of inspection for any customer supplied tooling to determine fitness for use. Please note that it is the responsibility of the customer to repair or replace any deficient tooling. Replacement of worn tooling resulting from use by MPP will be handled on a case by case basis.

Any materials submitted by our customers (plates, dies, labels), without coordination with MPP, that may impact our ability for efficient manufacture (e.g. cylinder size, lead edge, bleed, registration, etc.) may impact and potentially negate our original quotation. Please consult your sales representative on these specific requirements at the time of quotation to minimize any potential disruption in service.

Storage of Customer Materials

MPP is committed to safely and securely storing current tooling and materials used for pending and ongoing manufacture of packaging products for our customers. However, in order to prevent excess accumulation of such materials, due to space constraints and the inherent degeneration of material qualities over time, the following retention policy is established.

The maximum storage time from the date of last manufacture for labels is 6 months and for tooling (cutting dies and printing plates) is 2 years, at which time they will be purged (disposed of). Additionally, due to the inherent degeneration of photopolymer printing plates, MPP’s limitation for assuring their fitness for use is one year.

After the above established storage periods these materials will be considered as obsolete and may be discarded. You may not receive any additional notification, nor does MPP assume any responsibility for replacement of discarded materials after this time period.

Release of Tooling & Labels

MPP will not release any tooling or labels, regardless of ownership, until all obligations are met by the parties, including payment in full of any outstanding balances.

This policy may be updated or changed at the discretion of MPP without notice.
