Reusable, Low-Cost Glacier Ice™ Gel Packs are ideal for everyday use and are just as thermally effective when compared to other +30 30°F formulations. They are ideal for shipments where variable height tolerances are acceptable, as this formulation does tend to have irregular expansion during the freezing process.

TempSafe™ Refrigerant Conditioning Guidelines

It is best to avoid loading pallets of extremely warm gel packs into the freezer at the same time. Loading these will immediately alter the freezer’s internal temperature due to the heat transfer, and lengthen the time required to freeze by up to a day or longer.

When placing refrigerants into the freezer, ensure that they are at room temperature and there is room around each side of the pallet for sufficient air flow.

The refrigerant will enlarge once it is frozen from a liquid to a solid. It is important that the gel packs are as flat as possible to ensure uniform freezing but can freeze in a distorted shape. Handle frozen refrigerants with care as the outer poly barrier can become brittle. Any damage to the gel pack in its frozen state will note be realized until it begins to thaw and liquify

Frozen Refrigerants Recommendations:

  • Freezer set point: =/<-20ºC
  • Single refrigerants on bread trays: 36 hrs.
  • Individual case of refrigerants: 48 hrs.
  • Full pallet in cases:
  • 2 weeks if chimney stacked
  • 3 – 4 weeks when non-chimney stacked

Refrigerated Refrigerants Recommendations:

  • Refrigerator set point: +5ºC
  • Single refrigerants on bread trays: 24 hrs.
  • Individual case of refrigerants: 36 hrs.
  • Full pallet in cases:
  • 2 weeks if chimney stacked
  • 3 weeks when non-chimney stacked
